Education is the great equalizer, and if we get it right, we can empower a child for the rest of his or her life. Once someone has an education, it can’t be taken away.

Over the last 25 years, college costs have increased more than 400%, and the Department of Education estimates the U.S. spends $650 BILLION on primary and secondary education.  But American students increasingly lag behind students in other developed nations.

It’s time to stop sending billions of dollars to D.C. only to have a tiny part of it sent back to Oregon, and with conditions attached – conditions that don’t even help our schools or our kids.

As your Senator, I’ll work to cut those strings. Oregon’s children deserve better than some bureaucrat 3,000 miles away dictating failed education policy.

Oregon’s parents and teachers should be in charge of Oregon schools — not Washington, D.C.
